I’m brand new to Muay Thai or any combat sport for that matter…
I’ve been to about six 1-2hr classes so far, I’m enjoying it all to the max. So many great things to say. however I am struggling with kicks/knees, more specifically with the pivoting of the feet or planted foot. I have been finding it difficult to pivot on the balls of my feet which then makes it difficult to follow through properly or generate more power. When everything else has been noticeably progressing it’s obvious to me that this is a spot of plateau… any tips on how to get more movement. It feels like my feet get glued to the ground when I try and pivot, no glide I see some folks out there even at the same level as me making it look like they’re pivoting on ice, smooth.(At home work outs, stretches, equipment. etc etc)
I should also say I have lived with a not so great knee injury for years, Muay Thai has been helping me feel more stable but twisting motions are difficult and finding an equal balance has been interesting… I understand all of this will take time and some things will click faster than other things. Just curious!!
