I’ve been doing Muay Thai for a bit over 3 years, 2 different gyms, 5 coaches, dozens of students. Never had a bad experience. Some guys go a bit harder, I just ask them to calm down, they do. Never had anyone go ham. Never had anyone try to hurt me.

What is going on with these gyms and coaches that treat the sport like it’s prep for street fighting? Is this really that common? If so, these gyms and these people should be named. Most people who go into striking aren’t there to become pro fighters. They have to go to work the next day and can’t afford to get injured.
