Hey everyone
So I’m currently staying in a Muay Thai gym in Thailand that I trained at some months ago, and they are really trying to get me my first fight for their upcoming event, and they told me the night before the event, they found me an opponent
They found someone who has been training for 3 months at a gym, has had one fight, and is my same height and weight
I have 6 months of consistent boxing experience with hard sparring in America and about 2 months of Muay Thai experience, but not consistently. I took a break from both for about 5 months to do an Ironman.
Luckily, I have been training twice a day for the past 2 weeks, expecting them to try to find me an opponent. I’ve been sparring daily, running, strength and conditioning, pad work, etc. I’m still in fairly good shape from the Iron Man and from running and doing conditioning after
The rules of the fight are shin guards, elbow pads, groin guard, and 3 x 2-minute rounds. My boxing + Muay Thai and cardio background has really helped in sparring and progressing in Muay Thai, but my opponent definitely has more experience than me in the ring.
Was it dumb to accept the fight, and if so, what can I do today (the day before) to best prepare?
Thank you
