Hello,
I (35) started training in martial arts (MMA, BJJ, Boxing) last year out of passion. I joined some Muay Thai sessions, where we had to do middle/high kicks, and I couldn’t.
I got to learn that I have a condition called femoacetabular impingement (FAI, CAM/PINCER type) where I have extra bones on my femoral and socket on both side of my hip, limiting my ability to perform middle and high kicks. This sucks as I love using my legs during sparring but I am only limited to low kicks.
I’ve had 36 physiotherapy sessions for flexibility and muscular reinforcements. It helped to an extent, but I still cannot perform well, even in middle kicks.
Doctor told me that I will have to do a surgery eventually at older age.
I would like to join some Muay Thai sessions this year, but I am hesitant about my performance. I would really appreciate if I could receive some feedback/tips about my condition.
Thanks!
