I find it really terrible. I understand it’s supposed to develop better resistence/reliable guard in situations where you are getting pressured, but I don’t really see the need to do it often. I don’t see him teaching drills to deal with pressure too and avoid getting caught into this situation in the first place.
I think he focus too much on pure raw defense with guard and accepting/absorbing the other fighters attacks and going to war (I see this as a last resort) rather than footwork, countering and evasiveness. This shit is very hard to the body and to the head as well. I’m a slender, tall guy with very long arms and I don’t see myself making this kind of defense the better use for me.
