Hello all,
I’m the owner of a relatively new Muay Thai gym in Bangkok called Tiger Eye. We are less than 2 years old. When starting the gym, the plan was to set up a solid foundation as a family friendly gym and make sure casuals and beginners were happy and comfortable and then start building a fight team. We have the area for two seperate training areas and we are building accomodations, the logistics and operational ability is there.
As the gym enters this new phase of our journey I am genuinely curious if having a Thai fight team without gambling involved would be able to even cover its expenses.
I don’t want to be involved in gambling and the only shows where purses would be high enough (and that too for the top earners) are ONE and RWS but I’m not gonna be getting fighters ready to debut there and I don’t think it’s smart to assume we’ll have our entire fight team active on those two shows.
Has anyone gotten an in depth look at the financial realities of having a fight team in Thailand?
Purses for the level of fighters I’d start with would range between 1 and 10k baht I assume
