I’ve been training for 2 years at this gym and I got concussed last week by a woman who’s been training here for a year or more. I haven’t been able to attend my classes because of the symptoms still being here.
This made me realize my gym isn’t great:
I found out recently you aren’t supposed to spar with light gloves.. The coaches haven’t talked about this at all and even told the teens class to get 10oz gloves for bag and sparring. They let anyone with any glove size spar. I thought this was normal until I read some stuff online. And the owner of the gym comments on videos saying it’s stupid to only spar in 16oz gloves or more and doesn’t believe in this.
Anyways, what I’m most upset about is that they let the person hit super hard during sparrings and because of that I’m the one who gets concussed. I am totally blaming her for it because I told her to go easy and 30 seconds in I get a hard lead hook to the head.
I’m quite sad because the coaches there are genuinely nice and I had built a great relationship with them.
I don’t know what’s next and I’d love to hear some advice. My membership ends in July
