Boon shorts

If someone has some insight it would be appreciated! I live in the U.S. and was thinking of ordering some boon shorts but with current tariffs I didn’t want to get charged a crazy amount on top of price, tax and shipping. My friend who lives in Australia is there right now and I was thinking of having them buy them and ship them to me.

My question is, would it be cheaper and would I be able to avoid tariffs because it’s a personal gift under 100 dollars? I know that the cost of shipping from Australia would be additional but if it’s cheaper than tariffs I’d rather pay that.
