I’ve more or less stopped using the switch kick in sparring because I can never seem to get it to land. Every time I switch, it just feels too telegraphed.
I still kick a lot with my lead leg, I just don’t switch for it anymore. I seem to have way more success using a pendulum step to hit with the lead leg instead.
Sometimes I’ll fake the switch and throw a hook when they’re expecting the kick, but the traditional switch kick itself just isn’t landing for me.
Anyone have any advice on how to make the switch less obvious or how to use it more effectively instead of just penduluming into it?
