ht source here. Just some loose thoughts: looks like Blue is attempting a lead arm parry of Red’s jab from mixed stance, so he can land his left cross. These kinds of cross-action parries/attacks are fundamentally a little risky, but are more and more “safe” because eyes in the pocket are decreasing (fundamentals matter less). Did not see the fight, only the highlight, maybe he showed this move too much earlier? But it looks like Red had this reverse elbow counter ready for it, and it goes completely flush. Classically the reverse elbow was a retreating counter strike catching the advancing fighter, but more and more its been used offensively. Here to perfection. Because lead hand bat-downs in mixed stance are pretty common, a good weapon counter to keep in mind. submitted by /u/kevin_v |
