So I’ve been doing Muay Thai for a couple of months now and just got into sparring and honestly, I’ve been loving it. Yesterday’s class was totally normal: good workout, good energy, got hit the usual amount of times (aka plenty), and nothing hurt more than usual.
Then, out of nowhere… I just start crying. Like, I could feel tears coming on Mid-spar. 😭
I wasn’t sad, nothing hurt, and my partner hadn’t even landed anything new or crazy. My body was just like, “Alright, time to release emotions now, good luck champ.” I managed to blink it back until the end of class, but the second I got to my car, it was full-on ugly crying all the way home. For absolutely no reason.
This is so out of character for me and the only conclusion I can draw is it has something to do with my classes.
I asked one of the other girls about it and she said it’s happened to her too hormones, stress, etc. And sure enough I got my period the next day. So apparently my body was just pre loading the drama. Which makes sense, but I’m still curious,
Is this a me being a woman thing, or does anyone (guys included) ever just emotionally detonate mid-spar for no reason?
Anyway, if you ever see me sprinting out of class like Cinderella before the tears hit, no you didn’t. 🥲
