I’ve been practicing for about 7/8 years, did a few different martial arts, started boxing, went to kickboxing and have now transitioned to Muay Thai for the last few years. I’m young, almost 22, and only train for fun at this point, I never plan on competing again. My issue is I feel like I lost my drive, I love to spar but after every session all I can think about is how I’m further just damaging my brain with no end goal. (I never spar hard anymore and really haven’t sparred hard a whole lot through my years)
I feel demotivated and so far behind my peers who have only been doing it for a year or two I feel like I’ve regressed to such a point where I just can’t turn it up anymore, every single sparring session is just playing and light tapping.
I recently just started doing BJJ about 6 months ago at the same gym I train Muay Thai and I’ve been loving it. I am wondering if it’s time to just hang the gloves up, I’m not looking for a yes or no obviously this is a decision I have to make, I’m just looking for guidance from some fellow practitioners that have been training for awhile. Maybe other guys who made the choice to hang it up or those who just stopped sparring and only do drills/pads.
Any advice is appreciated, thank you for any time spent on a reply.
