Pushing your check into their shin ?

Hello everyone, we worked checking kicks in class today so i had time to experiment. Is there any benefit to pushing your check into your opponents shin? As in pushing out my hips and slighty extending my leg, like a very low knee. I found it resulted in a much stronger/harder clash which I presume is more painful for my opponent then me. However I should note this was all with pads on and during drills.
